A SolusVM 2 alternative that takes over running hosts
KLYRN VM reads a SolusVM 2 estate without changing it, then takes over each host while its machines keep running. What moves and what does not.
What KLYRN VM is
KLYRN VM is a panel for selling KVM virtual machines. It is a separate product from the KLYRN Web hosting panel. It has customer accounts, resellers, backups to another server, a console in the browser, an API and webhooks.
Read the estate first
Give KLYRN VM your SolusVM 2 address and an API key. It lists your hosts, servers, plans, addresses and customers. Every request it makes is a read, and each one is listed in the panel.
Take over one host at a time
Add the KLYRN VM agent to one host. It checks every machine, then takes the host over while the machines keep running. No machine gets a new address.
Customers are brought over, and each gets a link to choose a new password. Old passwords are never copied. Backup schedules carry over. Until you finish a host, handing it back to SolusVM 2 is one click.
Linux and Windows guests come across with their consoles. You can stop after any step and nothing is lost.
What it does not do yet
A host whose machines use VLAN tags is not taken over. OpenVZ is not supported, because KLYRN VM manages KVM only.
For a moved machine, power, console, backups and resize work from day one. Firewall groups, reinstall and restore come once its network is moved to KLYRN VM.
What it costs
The first compute node is free, with every feature and no time limit. Each node after it is $5 a month. A server you are only reading for a migration does not count. The pricing page has the detail.
Next step
Install the controller on its own server:
curl -fsSL https://get.klyrn.com/vm | sudo bash
Nothing on your SolusVM 2 hosts changes until you add the agent. The SolusVM move page walks through each step.
