Plesk alternative
Plesk is the broad one. KLYRN is the narrow one, on purpose.
Plesk runs on eight Linux distributions and Windows Server, with Apache and nginx on Linux and IIS on Windows, and sells by the domain. KLYRN runs on Ubuntu 24.04 with nginx, sells by the server, and spends the difference on an installer that verifies itself, a web tier that cannot become root, and backups that are read back before they count.

Only cells with an official statement behind them are filled in. Plesk's prices are deliberately absent: the pricing page served on 6 September 2026 carried a promotion and a price change whose dates had both already passed, so no figure from it could be quoted responsibly. 1

Why narrow
One OS and one web server is a smaller product, and a much smaller thing to get wrong.
- Tuning that shows its reasoning
- nginx, PHP-FPM and MariaDB are configured from the server's CPU, RAM, disk and virtualisation; the panel shows the rule next to each of the thirty values. That is only possible when there is one set of package names and one service model to reason about.
- An installer that verifies itself
- Eleven stages, each of which checks whether it already ran, applies itself, and verifies its own result. The first clean run on a 3-vCPU VPS took 53 seconds. Six chaos scenarios each refused with the stage, the cause and the resume command.
- Updates that roll back on their own
- Signed manifests, a state snapshot, post-checks, and a swap back when they fail. A release built to fail its post-checks left the server coherent.
- A migration that reads the archive you already have
- A cPanel or DirectAdmin backup, or any server over SSH. Previewed and verified on the new server before DNS moves. Move first. Change DNS when you're ready.
Where Plesk wins
If any of these is a requirement, Plesk is the answer.
- Windows Server and IIS. Plesk is the only panel in our comparison that runs there. KLYRN never will.
- Mail. Plesk ships a complete mail stack. KLYRN hosts no mail in V1, by decision.
- Eight Linux distributions. KLYRN runs on Ubuntu 24.04 only; Debian 12 and 13 are planned for V1.5 and nothing else is.
- Years in production. KLYRN is a beta: tested on real servers, not finished, and its paid editions are not on sale. The full list of what it does not do.
