A DirectAdmin alternative that does not count accounts

DirectAdmin pricing today

We read directadmin.com/pricing.php on 21 October 2026. It lists three retail licences.

• Personal PLUS: $5 a month for 2 accounts and 20 domains.
• Lite: $15 a month for 10 accounts and 50 domains.
• Standard: $29 a month for unlimited accounts and domains.

The entry price is low. Once you pass 10 accounts or 50 domains, the bill is $29 a month.

How KLYRN prices it

KLYRN Free is one server and five sites. Pro is $9 per server a month, with no limit on accounts, domains or sites. The pricing page has the detail.

For a small server with a few sites, DirectAdmin Personal PLUS costs less. For a full server, KLYRN Pro costs less than Standard.

Moving the sites across

KLYRN reads the old DirectAdmin server over SSH. With a root login it reads every account in one pass, and you approve a plan before anything is written.

Each site is copied while the old server keeps serving. A final sync sends only what changed. Each domain keeps its own PHP version.

This route moved a production DirectAdmin 1.697 server with 40 accounts, 48 domains, 25 databases and 48 mailboxes. The source was only read.

Where DirectAdmin still fits

DirectAdmin offers several web servers and runs on ARM. KLYRN is nginx on Ubuntu 24.04, x86_64 only. If you need LiteSpeed or an ARM server, stay where you are.

FTP accounts, DNS zones and reseller packages are listed by the migration and not moved. Plan for those.

Mail is a separate step. Point MX at the new server only after the mailboxes have moved and you have checked them. Keep the old server for a week, because KLYRN never deletes anything on it.

Next step

Read the DirectAdmin migration guide, then install KLYRN on a spare server:

curl -fsSL https://get.klyrn.com | sudo bash

The DirectAdmin alternative page compares the two side by side.
