Short answers about installing, moving, running and paying for KLYRN VM.
Getting started
What is KLYRN VM?
KLYRN VM is a control panel for KVM virtual machines, made for hosting providers. You run it on your own servers, and your customers and resellers sign in to manage their machines.
Which Linux systems does it install on?
Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04, Debian 12 and 13, AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux 8, 9 and 10, and CentOS Stream 10. See the install page for the command.
Can I try it on one server?
Yes. Install the controller, then run klyrn-vm admin node add-local on the same server. It becomes its own first compute node, with a network and storage ready.
Which systems can my customers run?
Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS Stream, Fedora and Windows Server 2022, plus any image you add. One-click apps include Docker, PostgreSQL, WordPress, Node.js and Ollama.
Where can I ask a question or suggest a feature?
On the KLYRN Discord. Ask before you install, get help while you set up, or tell us what is missing. For anything private, use WhatsApp or email. See the community page.
Moving from another panel
Can I move from SolusVM 2 without downtime?
Yes. KLYRN VM takes over each host while its machines keep running, and no machine is restarted. See moving from SolusVM 2.
Do my customers have to register again?
No. Their accounts come across with their machines. Each customer gets a link to choose a new password.
Does it support OpenVZ or VMware?
KLYRN VM manages KVM machines. OpenVZ is not supported. Machines on a VMware ESXi host can be run from the panel, but cannot be created or backed up there.
Running it
What happens to machines if the controller goes down?
They keep running. A machine does not need the controller to stay up. When the controller returns, the hosts reconnect on their own.
Where are backups stored?
On a separate backup server that you choose. Every new machine gets a backup schedule from its first day.
Can I move a running machine to another host?
Yes. In our test the machine paused for 303 milliseconds. Moving between an Intel host and an AMD host needs one short restart of about 7 seconds.
Is there an API?
Yes. Everything in the panel is available through the API. There are also webhooks and a Prometheus endpoint. A WHMCS module is in testing.
Pricing and licence
How much does it cost?
Your first compute node is free for good, with every feature. Each node after that is $5 a month. There is no charge per machine. See pricing.
What happens if my licence expires?
Every machine keeps running. After 14 days you cannot add a new compute node until you renew. Nothing else changes. See licensing.
How do I buy a licence?
Sign in at my.klyrn.com, choose KLYRN VM and the number of nodes, and pay. You then paste the licence file into your panel.
